This section of the Gulf coast, which includes the world famous vacation destinations of Destin, Fort Walton Beach, and Panama City, features "surreal" scenery with the bright white color of the beach sand and the bright "emerald" color of the water near the shore--hence this area is often called "the Emerald Coast".
